What is a Favicon?

Quick Post Alert - One of the most common questions we receive from our customers is, what’s a favicon? A favicon is a type of word called a “portmanteau” where two words are fused together to become one. The word favicon was formed in the early days of internet explorer (approximately 1995) and formed by the fusion of “favorite” and “icon.”

On the top left-hand corner of any browser tag, you will see a small image, traditionally a company logo. This small image is a favicon. Favicons are a quick and easy way to improve your websites brand and have been shown to improve customers perceptions relating to your website’s authenticity and security.
